Frankfurt International Airport Train Transfers
Frankfurt Airport boasts two train stations, one for regional trains and one for fast rail connections to all parts of Germany and her European neighbours. It's easy to get to the railway stations from the terminals, as they are connected via corridors at Terminal 1, and via Sky Line trains and shuttle buses.
The regional train station, Frankfurt Flughafen Regionalbahnhof, connects passengers with the cities of Frankfurt, Aschaffenburg, Hanau, Mainz and Wiesbaden. Simply follow signage to tracks 1 to 3.
Metro trains (S-Bahn) leave from these platforms, services being provided by lines S8 and S9. They connect to Frankfurt's main train station in the city center. Lines 59 and 75, both regional trains, also connect the airport with the city. A single ticket from/to the airport and Frankfurt's central train station (Hauptbahnhof) costs 4.95 Euros for an adult and 2.90 Euros for a child.
S-Bahn lines S8 and S9 leave every 15 minutes from the regional train station at Frankfurt Airport, arriving usually at platform 102 at the Hauptbahnhof in the city center. For timetable and pricing information, please go to the website of the train company RMV.
You can find the Regionalbahnhof (regional train station) below Terminal 1 on underground Level 0. Use Sections A, B and C at Arrivals and follow the signs to Airport City Mall/Regionalbahnhof.
Long-Distance Rail Travel from Frankfurt Airport
The Fernbahnhof links Frankfurt Main Airport with the rest of Germany and Europe. Passengers using Frankfurt Airport to reach other parts of the European continent should head from Terminal 1 on foot to the connecting corridor by following the relevant signage. It takes about 10 minutes to walk from the Arrivals area to the long-distance train station.
Passengers at Terminal 2 can reach the long-distance train station at Frankfurt Airport within 30 minutes. Simply take the Sky Line trains which connect the terminals. They take about 7 to 10 minutes to arrive at their destination and are free to use. Free yellow shuttle buses leave from Terminal 1, Level 1, Area B. Sky Line trains also leave from this area for Terminal 2.
